"There is synergy of energy, commitment, and excitement that participants bring to a Mastermind Group. The beauty of Mastermind Groups is that participants raise the bar by challenging each other to create and implement goals, brainstorm ideas, and support each other with total honesty, respect and compassion."

For our group, its best if:

Best if there are no competitors in the group - pls look at the list of current members and their focus/expertise to ensure you are a fit. Best if we are at close to/ similar levels of success in life/business areas. (our group all members are actively engaged in pursuing their dreams) Best if we have a similar overall desire/focus for the group: Our members are community oriented, spiritually minded, and whom are actively living their dreams!

Current members S - professional life coach,/lawyer/film production K - realestate investor/entrepreneur/leader in women’s wellness D - artist/speaker/author/group facilitator (me here) L- graphic artist/illustrator/author/filmmaker/blogger

Each call will be 1 1/2 hours via conference call phone.  There would be enough time on each call for EACH person to share, and for EACH of us to receive group support. I would be responsible for an opening and a closing.

The cost to participate is $50/month.  I also ask each group participant commits to 6 months working together.

If you’re interested, intrigued, excited and open to the possibly, please ensure you fit the above criteria, can commit for 6 months and pls email (info@debchaney.com) me with these questions answered to start:

Do you have a personal or business mission or vision statement? What are your three-year goals? What is your commitment to moving forward in your business and personal life? Why should you be chosen to participate in this group?

Today's Play: Is the Painting Finished?

Sep2015InProcessP

Today's painting in process in the studio. Here's the big question, is it finished? How do you know?  Many seasoned artists have an internal sense within themselves when a painting is finished, some do not. Come join me this November 2015 in Vancouver at the Beaumont Studios where I will be teaching 'Layers & Process: A Journey in Abstract Painting with Mixed Media & Acrylics' and I will share with you the 3 C's, the 3 WOW's and the fool proof system I use to tell if a painting is finished. You can register here: Layers & Process workshop.  As yet untitled in process painting above is 23 " x 30 " Acrylics & Mixed Media on 300 pound paper (c) Deb Chaney 2015. New Painting Inspired by Elizabeth Gilbert's new novel: The SIgnature Of All Things

TheSignatureOFAllThings

This is a fresh new painting I created last week entitled 'The Signature of All Things'  in praise, admiration and wonder at the Elizabeth Gilbert's (author of Eat, Pray, Love) new novel, of this above painting name. For me, a good novel makes my summer and brings in an element of delight, entertainment, learning and wonder that I so enjoy.  I took this fantastic book with me everywhere the past few weeks, devouring every page and just falling in love with Alma Whittaker the Goddess of Mosses and Curiosity and of Learning.  What a treat and a delight. Thank you Ms Gilbert for your masterpiece If by chance you are reading this, I'd like you to know that I shed tears upon tears at the end of the book. Beautiful! Fantastico!

Donating Art to Charity: I am Taking a Stand

A 5063

Recently, I was contacted by two charity organizations based here in  Vancouver whom I have supported, several times in the past, by donating a piece of my original art.  I take full responsibility for these organizations asking me to donate work; she's given her art to us before, why not again? That was the old me. I've changed. In the past I did not appreciate myself and my artwork, nor the time, effort, talent, dedication, focus and hard work I put into creating my artwork. But I do now. Here's  the letter I wrote this year in response to their request for art donations. As you can see, I've changed:

Dear Charity Organization,

Thank you so much for your enthusiasm regarding my artwork and request for a piece of my artwork for your auction.

I am, for the first time in my career, going to ask that as much as I’d be so happy to participate in the auction, this time it need to be of fair exchange.

I think Taylor Swift sums it up beautifully in her blog post to Apple Inc. (link below) concerning their decision to deny artists payment for their music. She states that for her, with the level of success she has attained, it WOULD be possible for her to let her music go for free. But for many, many artists - such as myself - we cannot survive by continuously giving away our products, good, and time for free.

http://taylorswift.tumblr.com/post/122071902085/to-apple-love-taylor

I am asking not just for myself, but for all artist who dedicate so much time, energy, their own money, blood, sweet and tears into their work, that we re-write this old pattern of artists simply giving away their art for free and create a new standard whereby we are honored and compensated fairly for what we contribute, so that not only does the charity thrive, but so does the artist.

Let’s honor the artist and the charity so that EVERYONE can thrive.

Thank you and Sincerely,

Deb Chaney Contemporary Abstract Artist

Before and After - Spring Mixed Media Painting in Process

FreedomBeforeAfterMay2015DChaneyThis painting is entitled 'Freedom' (60" x 40" x 1.5") I'm not sure if she's completely done yet, but she's getting there. I thought it would be fun for you to see the evolution of her. This spring I am working a lot with collage with a goal to make it fun, fun, fun.  I recently picked up some wall paper and am excited to be using that next time I am in the studio.

Flash from the past - Ron Mulvey

RonMulveySlocanOver the weekend I received (with great surprise) a wonderful encouraging email from my very first art teacher, Ron Mulvey with whom I had taken my first acrylic painting class over fifteen years ago now, when I lived in Nelson, British Columbia. Oddly enough I still have a few of the paintings I worked on in his class. I remember Ron saying that one of the most important things in making a good painting was choosing quality paints. Here's what he wrote to me; "Love your work Deb and so grateful your going the distance. Here is a little sketch from the Slocan River at Springtime (shown above). A taste of home!!" Ron lives with his wife Sara on 45 acres by the Little Slocan River in British Columbia. They have a Summer camp for kids in July that is fun and inspirational, details here: http://www.theartabet.com/rons-art-story/. Ron, Thank you for being in touch and remembering me! I am touched!
