The Little Red & Green Christmas Painting Project

LittleXmas2015_iLittleXmas2015_iii LittleXmas2015_iiLittleXmas2015_ivI’m hunkering down for Christmas now and playing with making a few little paintings. I snapped  a few shots during the process of making these  paintings which I'm calling 'The Little Red & Green Christmas Paintings'. These are each the size of a big postcard, each of them painted on a hand torn piece of 300 pound water colour paper (giving them a deckled edge) with heavy body acrylic paints using a palette knife.  I stared the series by choosing 3 parameters 1) colours - I decided green & red  with a few other colours to punch it up 2) composition - I decided these would be a landscape composition 3) content - these pieces are about freedom, space, playfulness and experimentation. Enjoy the in process pictures! www.debchaney.com

SMIGLS - a dailyl ritual for you

SMIGLs I received a beautiful email  on FaceBook from a student who took one of my mixed media abstract painting workshop s several years ago. She told me that when she goes for  a walk she does The SMIGLs Ritual with herself out loud, the one we did in class during that workshop, and how after all this time, it has stayed with her! We did this ritual again at the end of the workshop last weekend at the Beaumont Studios and I thought I’d share it with you in the case you haven’t heard of it yet.  xo Deb

Inspired Around the world and back!

CApri_AroundTheWorldIf the world had a song/anthem, what would it sound like? Isn't it time we had a world anthem to unite us all? A beyond inspirational 11 year old, Capri, came to visit our Toastmasters Group (Club #59) this evening, asking us this question. She spoke to the group and shared about the world voyage she is embarking on with her Mom, Dad, and little brother, leaving Vancouver this November. She is going to sing 80 national anthems in 80 countries, each in their mother tongue language, with the intention to raise money for orphaned kids around the world. Her first stop? Ottawa. Number of people in attendance? 20, 0000 to which she will speak AND sing to. #INSPIRED. Learn more at AroundTheWorldIn80Anthems.com
